My daughter has recently asked me about what I love and cherish. The reason is that she is preparing a display involving the family. That same evening I came across some old photos of the children at the back of a drawer and found myself fascinated. Having recently invested in a ‘scanner,’ I’ve had the enormous pleasure of revitalising these pictures, some of which are shown here.
There is no pretence about their quality; I was never a keen photographer and didn’t invest in a good camera while the children were young. Nevertheless, I am delighted with my amateur results after fiddling with the scanner. My daughter has access to a professional scanner at work, so will be able to improve massively on my own humble effort.
Why such pleasure? It’s a wonderful joy and privilege to be able to look back with such depth of love, affection and much more- the memories just gush back by the ton. Life wasn’t good in my childhood, so not much in the offing parentally etc. Children easily make up for that (in my case, anyway).
